Kenneth "Gene" Eugene Spivey

Kenneth Eugene (Gene) Spivey, 68, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City, NC. He was born on August 18, 1944 in Dunn, NC to James Kenneth Spivey and Francis Evelyn Warren Spivey.

Gene grew up in Harnett and Wake County, NC. He graduated from Garner High School in Wake County. He then worked for his dad at Spivey and Sons until he joined the US Army in September of 1966 through September of 1972. He also worked for 25 years plus at Kip Dell Homes and Apartments in Raleigh, NC.

Gene married Betty B. Spivey in 1994, they were married for 19 years.

Gene enjoyed watching Sports, TV and he dearly loved his dog, Zorro, a pomeranian who passed away April 2012. He kept his shirt with Zorro's picture on his pillow.

Gene was preceded in death by his father James Kenneth Spivey and his sister Scarlotte Eason.

Gene is survived by his spouse Betty B. Spivey of Beaufort, NC; his daughter Crystal Dawn Spivey of Oxford, NC and Lynn Oliver and her husband Mike of Angier, NC: his granddaughter, Kayla Fish of Angier, NC; his mother, Francis Evelyn Warren Spivey of Garner, NC ; his sister, Lisa Pearce and husband Timothy of Garner, NC; his brother James K. Spivey and wife Linda of Garner, NC; and his loving nieces, nephews,  numerous other relatives,  and friends.

The church and family will conduct a memorial service 1:00 pm Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Live Oak Grove Christian Church 166 Russell Creek Rd. Beaufort, NC, with Minister Bill Pollock officiating. The family will be greeting friends and relatives following the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Live Oak Grove Christian Church Building Fund PO Box 771 Beaufort, NC 28516.
