Kenneth Ray Peterson, 58, of Newport, died Thursday, May 22, 2014 at his home surrounded by family.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Saturday at Cape Carteret Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Smith officiating, additional services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday at Johnston Union Free Will Baptist Church Hwy 70 W. Clayton, NC 27520 (with a viewing 30 minutes prior to the service).
He is survived by his wife Joy Clarice Smith Harvey Peterson of Newport; son Artie Smith and wife Courtney of Smithfield, NC; siblings Laura Ferrell of Dunn, NC, Charles Peterson and wife Esther of Four Oaks, NC, Margie Jones and husband Bobby of Four Oaks, NC, Carolyn Frances Averette of Newport, NC, and Pauline Peterson of Lillington, NC; God brother Craig Eason and wife Sheila of Newport, NC; grandchildren Brayden and Tinsley Smith of Smithfield, NC; one nephew; two nieces; two God nephews; two God nieces; and numerous cousins.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial cards may be made to the family at 100 Millicent Court Newport, NC 28570.
