Kenneth Ray Blevins, 65, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
A graveside service to honor Kenneth’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 8th at Amariah Garner Cemetery. There will be a celebration of Kenneth’s life immediately following at the VFW Post 8986 on Hibbs Road.
Kenneth was born on July 20, 1959, in Cherry Point, NC, to William Edward Blevins and Ruth Blevins Chevelier. He had a distinguished career as a heavy equipment operator, starting at a scrap yard in Ohio before dedicating 25 years to the Department of Transportation.
Kenneth attended Community Baptist Church, and his Sunday afternoons where always spent in the company of friends and family, engaging in his favorite pastime of playing horseshoes. Kenneth also shared his enthusiasm for sports by coaching Little League baseball and basketball.
Known affectionately by the nickname "Breeze," Kenneth had a deep love for riding motorcycles, enjoying the thrill of the ride and freedom that came with it. Kenneth loved the outdoors and had many special memories of fishing and hunting with his boys and grandsons.
Kenneth didn’t know a stranger and always enjoyed chatting with people and getting to know them. He was always one to stay busy, whether working on a creative art project, playing the harmonica, or relaxing around a bonfire with his loved ones. Known as the "Grill Master," his grilled pig and Boston butts were legendary among family and friends.
Above all, Kenneth's greatest treasure was his family, to whom he was fiercely devoted to. His legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Sherry Blevins; daughter, Shawnna Blevins of Newport; sons, Thomas Blevins (April) of Newport, and Edward Blevins (Meagan) of Morehead City; mother, Ruth Chevelier of Newport; sisters, Beverly Sable of Morehead City, and Becky Horne (Mike) of Atlantic Beach; brother, David Blevins of Newport; and 10 precious grandchildren.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his father, William Edward Blevins; sister, Karen Blevins; and brother, Robert Blevins.
