Kelly Dean Whitchurch

Kelly Dean Whitchurch, 56, of Newport, passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 at Carolina East Medical Center.

He was born on August 30, 1960 in Phoenix, Arizona. Kelly is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 30 years Sally Anne Whitchurch, he was a proud father to his children, daughter Alicia Anne Whitchurch; son Robert Charles Whitchurch; his son's fiancé Joanne Rakosi; grandchildren Abbrielle Faith Wilson and Jaxon Dean Whitchurch whom he adored; sister Lisa Schellenberg (Steve) of Corpis Christie, Tx; sister Tonia Mosley of Bartlesville, OK; Brother-in-law Dan Schieble of Virginia Beach, VA; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Kelly graduated from Nowata, OK high school and joined the Navy in 1979. He was stationed in Norfolk, VA on board the USS Independence. In 1983 he began working for the department of defense as a sheet metal mechanic that eventually moved him and his family to Newport, NC in 1994. He remained working until 2005 before medically retiring. Kelly enjoyed fishing, hunting, yearly camping trips to Cherokee in the mountains of NC and relaxing in his chair watching his favorite tv shows with his dogs that he cherished Oreo, Molly and Zoey. Kelly will be missed by all who knew him and his memories will live on in our hearts forever.

He joins his parents, Robert Charles Whitchurch and Shirley Jean Whitchurch, In-laws Clay and Marianne Birkhead and sister-in-law Jill Birkhead Schieble, along with Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and close friends.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Munden Funeral Home Chapel in Morehead City.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home
