Kathryn Ann Kearney, 60, of Havelock, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at her home.
Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, officiated by Dr. Matthew Long. A private interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. (See link below for the Service Bulletin including the Order of Service.)
Friends are welcome to attend the service. For those unable to attend, the family invites you to view the webcasting of the service through her obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. In keeping with the CDC guidelines pertaining to the Coronavirus, those who are ill or at-risk (elderly, immune-compromised) are encouraged to stay home. Additionally, there will be a limit to the number of people in the building at one time, as well, those who attend will be asked to bring and wear a protective mask. Kathryn was born on November 13, 1960 in Indiana and was a 1978 graduate of South Bend High School. In her early years, she worked at Conner Mobile Homes in the cabinet shop where she met the love of her life, Eugene Kearney, and they were married on May 17, 1986,
Loyal Golden Corral customers will remember Kathryn’s friendly face from her 20 years of waitressing. Taking care of people and making sure their needs were met was something that came natural to Kathryn. This made the transition of caring for her in-laws a welcome role for her in her later years.
Gardening was a favorite pastime time for Kathryn. Working the soil and enjoying the beauty of her work was something that always put a smile on her face. As a strong Christian, Kathryn attended First Baptist Church in Havelock where she enjoyed her church family.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene Kearney of the home; sisters, Lori Kalt and husband Joe of Emerald Isle and Shannon Daychief and husband Grinnell of Montana; brother, Shawn Pete; stepdad, Horace Pete; nieces, April Carpenter, Jodie Casey and Chelsie Kalt; nephew, Chris Kalt; and grandchildren, Kate Bailey DeWar, Alex DeWar, Josh DeWar and Arianna DeWar.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Erin Renee DeWar; mother, Linda Pete; father, Dennis Krah; and stepmother, Mary Lou Krah.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City. The same safety guidelines apply
