Kathleen Hussey Runyon, was the sixth child of Norah Longe Hussey and Martin Hussey of New Canaan, CT, and wife of the late John W. Runyon, died Saturday, October 8, 2011.
Both New Canaan natives Kathy and John owned and operated Runyon's Pharmacy, Main Street, New Canaan, CT., a family owned business until 1974. They retired to Morehead City, NC to be near the ocean and to pursue their love of fishing. When she moved to Morehead City, Kathy worked at Belk's Department store and made many friends. Kathy was known for her wisdom, quick wit and gentle demeanor.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Martin, John Thomas (J.T.), Donald, Francis, and Joseph.
She is survived by her niece Laurie Novak and her husband John; nephew Jay T. Cook and his wife Barbara; niece Holly Boutwell and her husband Bill; nephew Stephen Hussey and his wife Joy; niece Susan Kanios and her husband Michael; niece Patricia White and husband David; nephew Joseph E. Hussey, Jr. and his wife Karen; nephew Matthew Hussey; niece Lisa Whelan and her husband James; nephew Donald Hussey; niece Mary Jane Glanz and her husband Steven; niece Ann Weed; nephew Robert Weitzel and wife Lynn. She is also survived by sisters in-law Vera Oliver, Julia Hussey, Chris Hussey, and Patricia Weitzel; brother-in-law Michael Runyon and wife Chris, as well as cousin and dear friend Mary Donohue Clark and nineteen great-nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to Kathy's neighbors Nell Williams, Ken Wood, and Tony Florence for their many kindnesses to Kathy during her illness.

A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 am Friday at St. Egbert Catholic Church with Father Doug Smiley presiding.
