Kathleen Bauernfeind

February 8, 1948 — July 26, 2010

Kathleen Bauernfeind, formerly Kathleen Kavanagh Alfis, daughter of the late Daniel and Helen Kavanagh, passed away July 26, 2010 at her home. Kathleen was born in Newark, New Jersey on February 8, 1948 and lived most of her adult life in New Milford, New Jersey until she moved to Salter Path, North Carolina in 1998. It is here that she is best known as ?Lovee?. She lived an all too short life but one filled with much joy and love no matter where she went. She touched everyone?s heart that crossed her path and if you met her you were sure to know her forever. Short term acquaintances were not in her repertoire.

Kathleen always said that the happiest days of her life were those spent in Salter Path. It was here that she found a loving community, spiritual fulfillment and true peace and contentment. With her beloved husband, Roy, she had reached the end of her search and would never call any other place on earth home.

Kathleen was suddenly taken from her beautiful home on Monday afternoon and many people may have noticed their lights a little dimmer these past few days as she seems to have taken some of it with her. However, the stars do appear brighter in the heavens possibly due to her entrance there.

Kathleen is survived by her husband and best friend Roy and her children: Carol, Lisa, Janis and John and her daughter In-Law Karen. Her grandchildren: Ashley, Caitlin, Troy and Melissa. Siblings: Daniel Kavanagh and his wife Terry, Christopher Kavanagh and his wife Sue. She is predeceased by her sister Mary Pat Dunlevy. Nephews: Andrew Dunlevy, Brian Kavanagh and the late John Padden. Niece, Tracy Wolfe.

Kathleen was a truly beautiful soul. If you listen carefully one evening you may hear her singing with the angels. But, if you knew Kathleen, you know she will definitely be singing to a different beat.

Services will be held 11:00 am Friday at Salter Path United Methodist Church with Rev. Clyde Cheezem, Rev. Darlene Morris, and Rev. Walt Denny officiating.

The family will receive friends 6:00 ? 8:00 pm Thursday at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Salter Path United Methodist Church, Salter Path Road, Salter Path, NC 28575.

Arrangements by Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, NC.
