Karen Melinda Mayhew

Karen Melinda Mayhew, 64, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

Born on June 25, 1960, in Statesville, NC, Karen was the daughter of the late James Franklin "Bill" Mayhew and Fannie Hildebran Mayhew. 

Karen loved living on the coast, thankful for every moment spent at the beach. Her love for boating and water sports, from windsurfing to water skiing, showcased her adventurous nature and zest for life. 

A dedicated worker, Karen owned her own cleaning business, which often took her to beautiful beach homes. Her son frequently accompanied her on these days, spending time surfing while she worked.

Karen's greatest joy in life came from her role as a mother. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her beloved son, Chase, and her love for him was evident in all that she did.

Karen's legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew and loved her.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her life partner, Donald Keith Chapman of Morehead City, NC; son, Chase Chapman and his wife Hannah Verena May Chapman of Beaufort, NC; and grandchildren, Forest Matthew Chapman and Autumn Verena May Chapman.

In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her siblings, Nina and Harold.
