Karen Sue Grdinic

Karen Sue Grdinic, 86, of Newport, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024, at her home.

A funeral service to honor Karen’s life will be held at 12 p.m., Wednesday, February 28^th at Broad Creek Church of God, officiated by Reverend Kristen Reaves. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Karen was born on August 7, 1937, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Francis and Christina Jones. Karen proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, dedicating many years to protecting the freedoms we hold dear. Following her military service, she continued her commitment, retiring from civil service. Family meant everything to Karen, she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.

Her devotion to her Lord and Savior was unwavering, and she found strength in her faith as a proud member of Broad Creek Church of God. Karen lived a life filled with love, compassion, and generosity, always eager to lend a helping hand to her church and community. She lovingly prepared meals for her congregation and friends in need. Karen will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the light she brought into the lives of those around her.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughters, JoAnn Parker and husband Wyatt, Tina Duncan and husband Freddy; grandchildren, Kristen Reaves and husband Neal, Wyatt Parker, Rebecca Lester and husband Jason, MaryAnn Teasley and husband Chris, Karen Jordan and Freddy Wayne Duncan; along with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas “Nick” Grdinic; and two daughters, MaryAnn Lentini and Colleen Carter.
