Karen McKenna Batchelor, 68, of Havelock, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Carolina East Medical Center.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, beginning at 3 p.m. at the family home in Havelock.
Karen was born on September 26, 1952, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Robert and Leona McKenna. As a homemaker, Karen was an amazing cook who expressed her love to her family by preparing wonderful meals and special dishes. Christmas was a special time of year for Karen who was known for collecting quite a few Christmas lights and antique decorations over the decades. Crafting was an enjoyable pastime for Karen who always appreciated the talent expressed. Karen was a loving mother and “memaw” who will be forever cherished.
She is survived by her husband, Rudy Batchelor of the home; daughters, Rebecca Matus and husband Garratt of Bellville, TX, Sonja Long and husband Erich Giezentanner of Havelock, Rhonda Coleman of Havelock and Amanda Batchelor and fiancé Doug Hurlock of Moberly, MO; sister, Kathleen Howorth of Indiana, PA; and grandchildren who affectionately called her “Memaw”, Avery Stox, Mason Stox, McKenna Long, Michael Long, McKaylee Long, McKaylynn Giezentanner, Matthew Giezentanner, Cannon Coleman, Kelliaunna Coleman, Kailani Coleman and Dalton Coleman; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carol McKenna; and grandchildren, Tristan Batchelor and Mattilyn Giezentanner.
