Kansas Grace Pope

Kansas Grace Pope, 26, of Virginia and of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021, at her home.

Kansas was born on August 2, 1994, in Chesapeake, Virginia. She grew up in Virginia Beach where she graduated from Salem High School. During her school years, her competitive nature thrived as she led her Varsity Field Hockey Team as Captain, all while maintaining her academics and being an Honor Roll student.

Kansas and her soon to have been born son, Beau Claiborne Pope, are survived by her brother, Morgan Claiborne Pope of Virginia Beach, Virginia; mother and step-father, Kellie and Dennis McAtee of Newport, North Carolina; maternal uncle, Kenneth Herrick of New Canton, Virginia; father, David Pope and companion Leslie Blake of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and paternal aunt, Bonnie Nutter of Clarksburg, West Virginia.

Services for Kansas and Beau will be private.
