Julia Shelfer Fulcher Day, 99, of Morehead City, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Pruitt Health Care in Sea Level.

A visitation for friends and family will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016, at Munden Funeral Home from 6:00- 8:00 pm.

Julia was born March 11, 1917, to Julian and Susan (Sudie) Bloodworth Fulcher at their home in North River. After graduating from Beaufort High School, she moved to Morehead, married Gordon Day, and had two boys, Ben and David. While living in Morehead City she made many lifetime friends. She worked many years at “The Shirt Factory”. She joined the First Methodist Church and was actively involved in her church and many community activities. Her favorite past times included playing bridge, the Garden Club, and the Women’s Club. She also was an organizer and lifetime member of the Fabulous Fisherettes, which is composed of ladies with similar pastime drives, who even on occasion go fishing.

Julia is survived by her sons, Benjamin Gordon Day, Sr. and wife Judith Day of Beaufort, and David Ward Day of Sea Level; grandchildren, Benjamin Gordon Day, Jr. and wife Jennifer Day of Beaufort, Steven Ward Day of Morehead City, Lara Elaine Vaeth of Islamorada, and Lesley Mirling and husband Sanford of Middleberry, VT; great grandchildren, Bonnie Belle Keen and husband David Keen of Garner, Jaclyn Day Oglesby and husband Levi Oglesby III of Beaufort, and Beau Gordon Vaeth of Islamorada; great great-grandchildren, Eric Allen Tiedemann III of Garner, and Gabriella Brooke Oglesby of Beaufort.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Day; granddaughters, Carrie Lee Day and Susan Elizabeth Day; and nine siblings.

Her family wishes to thank her friends for their kindness and good wishes during her difficulties of late; the kind and caring staff, fellow patient friends, and especially roommate Karen at Pruitt Health.
