Julia "Judy" Elizabeth Garner

Julia Elizabeth “Judy” Garner, 57, of Morehead City, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2019, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2019, at Munden Funeral Home.

Julia Elizabeth Garner was born on March 17, 1962 in Morehead City, NC to Richard and Mickey Garner. She was always a daddy's girl.

Judy graduated from West Carteret High School in 1980.  She later earned her Associates Degree in Applied Science for Administration Office Technology at Carteret Community College, with honors, while working and with 2 small children. She was proud to get a job at the NC State Port Authority in Morehead City after gaining her degree. While at the port, Judy decided to further her education and work towards earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Organizational Development.  She retired from the State Port after 12+ years and took in her first grandson. She then started a new job at FRC East Cherry Point. She remained there for 7 years.

Judy will always be remembered for a huge smile on her face. She was so loving, free spirited, caring, kind, fun, generous, ambitious, intelligent, adventurous, humble, patient, driven, joyful, and beautiful. She really touched so many lives. She was an amazing daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Judy was truly an angel on Earth and now she is free and has her wings.

She is survived by her daughter, Aimee Garner Davis and husband Tyrone Davis, Jr. of Morehead City; son, Will Garner of Morehead City; mother, Mildred “Mickey” Garner of Raleigh; brother, Rick Garner and wife Linda of Cary, Eddie Garner and wife Donna of Beaufort, John Garner and wife Mona of Pennsylvania, and James Garner and wife Hazelle of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Matthew Garner and Ty Davis; also numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Garner.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. till 7 p.m. prior to the service and following the service at Munden Funeral Home.
