Julia was born in Martin County, NC on May 12, 1926 to the late Maude and Clyde Waters. She was raised in Williamston, NC, graduating from Williamston Public Schools and then attaining a business degree from Atlantic Christian College. When her childhood sweetheart, the late J.D. Woolard Jr., returned home from military service in World War II the two were married. They were residents of Kinston, NC for over 40 years where they lovingly raised their two sons. Julia’s watercolors hang in countless homes and businesses throughout North Carolina and beyond.

Julia was a lifetime Methodist, participating as a choir member at Queen Street United Methodist Church in Kinston for many years. After J.D.’s retirement, Julia was a resident of Pine Knoll Shores, NC for 14 years. While there she shared her love of the coast, joy of Southern cooking, homemaking and entertaining. Julia continued her walk with Christ as a member of First United Methodist Church in Morehead City, NC. Julia’s remaining 8 years were spent as a resident of her beloved Snug Harbor.  She was a gleeful participant in every activity on the schedule. While at Snug Harbor she experienced nothing but Christ-like compassion from each and every caregiver and employee on a daily basis.

As a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, Julia is survived by: two sons; Jodie Woolard, III and wife Lynn of Indian Beach, NC, Bill Woolard and wife Jessica of Mebane, NC; three grandchildren, Greg Woolard and wife Laurie of Evans, GA, Blakely Woolard Kinsey and husband Robert of Goldsboro, NC, Logan Woolard Daniel and husband John of Mebane; three great grandchildren, Patrick Woolard of Evans, Rigg Kinsey and Julia Kinsey of Goldsboro; sister, Penelope Waters Lessard of Fuquay Varina, NC.
