Judy was born on December 10, 1955, in Lumberton, North Carolina, to the late Rev. Solomon and Eula Campbell. She was the baby girl who was adored by all her siblings. Proud of her Lumberton heritage, Judy was a registered Lumbee Indian.
Judy was very involved in the care of her elderly mother-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandson. Family was very important to her, she helped whenever she was needed. Judy enjoyed attending family functions and especially school events. Other than her family, one of her greatest loves was watching North Carolina Tar heels basketball!
A seamstress by trade, Judy worked in every shirt factory in Carteret County alongside her sister, Joan Campbell. Judy used her talent to provide for her family, she also would sew costumes for Church plays, cheerleading uniforms and even patches onto her son-in-law’s work uniforms.
In her life, Judy suffered many losses, her mother and father as well as her daughter, Stephanie, unexpectedly at the age of 37. After 40 years of marriage in 2014, Judy lost the love of her life William Paul. She never got over his death and talked about him often.
On February 5th of 2022, Judy’s health started to decline, she became physically ill, this turn of events led to her spending time in several hospitals were Judy put up the fight of a life. Little in body, with a strong will to live, Judy could not fight any more. With her daughter and son-in-law by her side, holding her battered hands, Judy left this world to venture onto a new journey.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Amanda Williams and husband Brian of Harkers Island; sisters, Francis Dennis of Otway, Mary Hook of South Carolina, Martha Childers of South Carolina; Joan Campbell of Morehead City; and Tina “Susie” Jones of North Carolina; brothers, Amos Campbell of Morehead City, Arthur “Jabo” Campbell of Cape Carteret, and Gilbert Campbell of Lumberton; grandchildren, Shelby Elaine Williams, Taylor Breann Williams, Sarah Noel Williams, and William Michael Guthrie; great grandson, Jacob Andrew Williams; and loving mother-in-law, Almeta Willis.
