Judith "Judy" (Copeland) Harbiston

Judith "Judy" Copeland Harbiston, 72, of Newport, died Thursday October 11, 2012, at Carteret General Hospital.
A funeral will be held 11:00 Wednesday October 17, 2012, at Little Swamp United Methodist Church, 17465 Hunter's Chapel Rd. Smoaks, with Rev. Kevin P. Stroop officiating. Interment will follow in the churchyard.
A native of Williams, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late James Lenroe Copeland and the late Martha Garris Copeland born December 26, 1939. After having attended Junior Methodist College and Erskine College, where she had received her Bachelor's Degree, she became an educator having taught third grade as well as having been a Librarian at Goose Creek Elementary School. She made the Havelock and Newport areas her home in 1995 where she had attended Harlowe United Methodist Church. She was a former member of Little Swamp United Methodist Church where she had sang with the church choir and was active with the United Methodist Youth.
Surviving her are husband of 46 years Henry Casper Harbiston, Jr.: a daughter Karen Denice Stull of Albany, GA: a son James Henry Harbiston of Newport, NC: one granddaughter: and one great granddaughter.
