Juanita Hill Pake, 93, of Bettie, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
A funeral service to honor Ms. Pake’s life will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, October 13th at Welcome Home Free Will Baptist Church in Bettie, officiated by Rev. Ray Gaskins and Rev. Terry McInnis. Interment will follow at Carteret Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through her obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days. Juanita was born on May 10, 1930, in Carteret County, NC, to the late George and Mary Hill. With her long 25-year career at Cherry Point as a production controller, she played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of various projects. Her meticulous attention to detail and strong work ethic earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Prior to her civil service career, she spent a decade at the Blue Bell Shirt Factory, further showcasing her dedication and perseverance as a constant hard-working woman.
Juanita cherished spending time working on the farm, she enjoyed driving the farm truck, transporting grain from Mill Creek to Bettie. Her love for nature extended to picking pecans, making fig preserves, and canning, filling her fridge and freezer with her bountiful harvest. Juanita’s kitchen was a haven of delicious homemade treats, with her famous banana pudding, sweet potato pie, biscuits, and light rolls constantly enticing family and friends.
Juanita was a devoted member of her church, finding peace and purpose in her faith. Her dedication to the Lord was evident in all aspects of her life. Family meant everything to Juanita, and she cherished the time spent with her children and her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Known for her warm heart and infectious laughter, she will be remembered for her unconditional love and consistent support of their dreams.
In her quiet moments, Juanita enjoyed activities that sharpened her mind. Puzzles were among her favorite pastimes, challenging her and bringing her a sense of accomplishment. She also found creativity in crocheting baby blankets and sewing, putting her talents to use for her loved ones.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her son, John Tyler Pake Sr. and wife Madolyn of Bettie; sister, Reba Watkins of Norwood, NC; grandsons John Tyler Pake Jr. and wife Kristin of Apex, Robert Daniel Pake and fiancé Tracy Styron of Bettie, NC, and Joshua Michael Pake and wife Joanna of State College, PA; and great-grandchildren, Alaina Pake, Charles Justin Pake, Sonny Lee Pake and Michelle Pake.
In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Justin Clark Pake in 2014; son Justin Clark Pake Jr.; sisters, Alice Garner, Laura Simpson, and Kay Arthur; brother; Robert Daniel Hill; stepbrother, Bobby Hill; and daughters-in-law, Florence G. Pake and Kathy Pake.
