Joyce Ann Stalker

Joyce Ann Stalker, 86, formerly of Morehead City, North Carolina and currently of Portsmouth, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025.

A funeral service to honor Joyce’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 4th at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, officiated by Rev. Frank Jarman. Interment will follow at Bayview Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Born on June 1, 1938, Joyce was the daughter of the late Horace Wade Bell and Janice Earle Peterson Bell. Born and raised in Morehead City, Joyce graduated from Morehead City High School with the Class of 1956. She always treasured her early years, growing up on the coast and spending time at the beach. She worked at First Citizens Bank and was a former member of First Baptist Church in Morehead City before moving to Virginia.

In Virginia, Joyce dedicated 17 years to Leggett’s Department Store in Portsmouth and then spent an additional 13 years at Hecht’s Department Store in Chesapeake.

Joyce had the remarkable ability to connect with others, she never knew a stranger and always made people feel welcome. With her positive attitude, Joyce brought fun and laughter wherever she went.

Above all, Joyce treasured her family. She loved creating special moments together and made every holiday an occasion to remember.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are the love of her life, Donald Jerry Robinson of Portsmouth, VA; daughters, Deborah “Debbie” (Robert) and Kimberly A. Wall (Kip), both of Chesapeake, VA; sister, Elizbeth Bell Hall (James) of Raleigh, grandchildren, David West, Thomas West, Megan Hanni and Steven Garlow; and great- grandchildren, Isla West, Ava West, Olivia West, Brodie Hanni, and Tucker Hanni.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lilly Elma Peterson; aunt, Ruby Dudley; and uncle, William “Billy” G. Bell.
