Joyce Powell

Joyce Powell, 85, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Carteret Health Care.

The family will have a graveside service, Sunday, March 31, 2024, at 2 p.m., Russell Family Cemetery in Bogue.

Joyce was born on June 1, 1938, in Bogue, NC, to the late John and Beulah Russell. She grew up with a compassionate heart and a zest for life with a love for the Lord. She married her soulmate, Bobby, who was a Coast Guard chief and shared many memories together. Joyce was a dedicated wife and loved nothing more than traveling the world with her beloved husband.   

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her brother, Johnny Russell and his wife Joyce of Reidsville, NC; and her nieces and nephews whom she shared a special bond with.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Powell; sisters, Doris Russell, and Marie King; and brothers, Calvin Russell, David Russell, and Mitchell Russell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Living Waters Church of God of Prophecy, 5388 Highway 24, Newport, NC 28570.
