Joseph "Jr." Thomas Senter, 74, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Carteret Health Care.
His memorial service will be held at 12 p.m., Friday, June 16th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. David Price. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. (See the link below for the Service Bulletin.)
Joseph was born on November 5, 1948, in Apex, North Carolina, to the late Joseph and Minnie Senter. With a long and successful career as a Volvo mechanic, Joseph had the expertise and understanding to repair intricate engines. His love of mechanics, cars, and speed was a great match for his love of races. Nothing was more fun than a weekend at the Daytona's with his buddies.
While living in Youngsville, Jr. dedicated numerous years to serving with the rescue squad and even held the position of chief. His leadership skills and experience were a testament to his dedication to the well-being of his community and his willingness to go above and beyond to help others.
Jr. enjoyed both hunting and fishing, which provided a connection with nature, a sense of adventure, and the opportunity to spend time outdoors. He had many memorable trips to Chesapeake, fishing for Croakers. These were great ways for him to relax, challenge himself, and enjoy life. If you knew Joseph, then you knew that he did just that, he embraced living life to the fullest and made the most of every opportunity.
Jr. also enjoyed a good fish fry, a tasty pig pickin' and spending quality time with his loved ones.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughter, Teresa Mitchell and husband Shawn of Youngsville, NC; sons, James Leary Senter and wife Mary of Youngsville, NC and Anthony Ray Senter and wife Michelle of Rolesville, NC; sisters, Sue Hubbard of Newport, NC, Karen Senter, and Anette Bennett, both of Fuquay-Varina, NC; brothers, Darrell Senter of Garden City, SC and Leroy Senter of Cary, NC; 6 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jr. was preceded in death by his siblings, Gary Neil Senter and Mary Elaine Senter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Victory Junction at 4500 Adam's Way, Randleman, NC 27317.
