Joseph Andrew Schulte Sr., 64, of New Bern, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2024.

A memorial service to honor Joseph’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 20^th at Munden Funeral Home in Havelock, officiated by Pastor Lisa Kirby. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Joseph was born on June 3, 1959, in Islip, New York, to the late Lambertus and Martha Schulte. He dedicated the early years of his life to serving his country in the U.S. Army. His commitment to duty, honor, and service exemplified his character. 

Joseph found support as a member of Avenue D for over 25 years, where he embraced his sobriety with unwavering determination. His courage and perseverance inspired many and undoubtedly impacted countless lives. 

Aside from his many accomplishments, none was greater than the love he felt for his family. Joseph adored his roles as a caring father and grandfather. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his long-time companion, Karen Delgrego of the home; daughter, Crystal Emerson (Robert) of Havelock; sons, Daniel Schulte (Danielle Haines), Joseph Schulte Jr. (Anthony) of Savannah, Georgia; brother, Bert Schulte of Brentwood, New York; grandchildren, Miguel Reyes, Alexis Martin, Kianna Patrick, Jalen Patrick, Aidan Schulte; special dogs, Bella and She-ra; and his favorite feline, ODAAT; grand-dogs, Napoleon, Kate, Porkchop, Maddie, Boobo, Bubba, and Scout; and grand-cats, Kiwi, Asher, Obsidian, Luna, Orangey, Pickles, and Sophie.
