Joseph Philip Mirabella aka “Blackie”, 96, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 at home surrounded by family.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Munden Funeral Home with Military Honors. A gathering of family and friends to follow the service.

Joseph Philip Mirabella was born on October 19, 1919 in Manhattan, NY to Joseph Mirabella and Lillian Meyer, who later died when Joseph was a toddler.  Joseph grew up in New York with his father, stepmother (Johannah Kraeger), and sister.  He married Charlotte Louise Whitehead, June 1947.  He was in the United States Marine Corps, served during WWII, and a Purple Heart recipient.  He was a licensed Architect in Maryland and New York and worked for IBM in Poughkeepsie, New York for 29 years until he retired.

He is survived by his wife Charlotte Whitehead Mirabella.  His children, Joseph Philip Mirabella, Jr and wife, Margie of Sequim, WA, William James Mirabella of Morehead City, NC, Charlotte Louise Mirabella and husband, George of Franktown, CO, Peggy Marie Mirabella and ex-husband, Antonio of Newport, NC, Mary Lee Mirabella and husband, Scott of Chicago, IL.  His grandchildren, Danielle Hall and husband, Chris of Forest Grove, OR, Mario Montuori of Raleigh, NC, Joseph Montuori and fiancé, Amy Lanoce of Newport, NC, Ethan Mirabella of Eugene, OR, Lucas Mirabella of Eugene, OR.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph F. Mirabella and Lillian Meyer, along with his stepmother, Johannah Kraeger.  His siblings, Joseph F. Mirabella, Jr and Florence Mirabella Mittwoch.
