Johnny C. Howard III, 65, of Newport, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at The Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Friday, May 27th, at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
Johnny was born on March 18, 1957, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Johnnie and Cloye Howard. Later moving to North Carolina, Johnny spent most of his childhood in Peletier and lived the majority of his life in Carteret County. As a proud American, Johnny honorably served in the United States Navy where he served on the USS Kennedy.
As a Realtor with King Realty, Johnny had the privilege of assisting numerous home buyers with purchasing their dream home. Always one to give back to his community, Johnny volunteered with the Rescue Squad in Cape Carteret. Music was a major factor in Johnny’s life, he always enjoyed a good rhythm and was an excellent bass guitarist. Playing in numerous bands, Johnny was as happy to entertain as the fans were to listen.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie King of the home; daughter, Jan Trull and husband Michael of Broken Arrow, OK; son, Johnny C. Howard IV and wife Hope of Newport; stepson, Michael B. Bennett Jr. and wife Alex of Kill Devil Hills, NC; and grandchildren, Rhiannon Howard, Alison Trull, Ashley Trull and Taylor Bennett.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Dr., Greenville NC 27834.
