Johnny Wayne Durham, Sr.

Johnny Wayne Durham, Sr., 70, of Newport, went to be with His Lord Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Carteret Health Care.
His funeral service will be held Monday, October 16, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Holly Springs Free Will Baptist Church in Newport, officiated by Reverend Mitchell Parker. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Johnny was a member of the first graduating class of West Carteret High School in 1965. He honorably served in the United States Army. He returned to Carteret County in permanently in 1972. After a long career, he retired as a clerk of court. Johnny was a member of the Holly Springs Baptist Church. He loved NASCAR and supporting fellow veterans in need. He was a beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Johnny is survived by his daughter, Donna Durham Jenkins of Matoaca, VA; son, Wayne Durham, Jr. of Newport; sister, Sandra Styron and husband, Joe of Newport; brothers, Jimmy Durham and wife, Kay of Newport, Pete Durham of Newport; grandchildren, David Eric Dobrick, Jr., Kelly Dobrick; great-grandchildren, Destiny Pruitt and Sydnee Elder.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, David Randolph Durham and Bertha Mae Evans Durham; sisters, Myron Clark, Bertha Jean Willis; brothers, Robert “Jackie” Durham, Tommy Durham; niece, Jamie Styron Parmley.
Family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 16, 2017 at Holly Springs Free Will Baptist Church in Newport.
