Johnnie Gordon Simpson, 74, of Beaufort, passed away Tuesday January 1, 2013 with his family by his side.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 Saturday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel. Commital will follow at Oceanview Cemetery.
He was born in Beaufort, NC lived on Lennoxville Rd. all his life. He was employed at Beaufort Fisheries for 44 years, starting out in the cookhouse alongside his wife. he eventually became in charge of the daily plant operations.
He enjoyed his time on the houseboat on Shackleford Banks with his family and friends. Winters were spent duck hunting on Johnson's Creek.
He will be missed by his family and friends. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years Elizabeth Sue, his mother and father Thelma and Monroe, and his sister Judy Pilcher.
He is survived by his sons Johnnie Jr of Beaufort, and Kenneth Wayne and wife Judy of Cape May, NJ: a granddaughter Lauren : great grandsons Jacob and Noah: sisters Tish Tickle and husband Bill, Barbara Sue Janis and husband Richie, and Catherine Green and husband John: and brother Mike and wife Linda.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
