John "Buster" Alec Willis

John "Buster" Alec Willis, 73, of Broad Creek, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013 at his home surrounded by family.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Monday at Broad Creek Cemetery with Rev. Wesley Holmes, Vann Salter, and Richard Hocutt (friend of the family) officiating.
Buster served his country with eight years in the Coast Guard, including a tour in Vietnam, and was a commercial fisherman. He was a life member of VFW Post 9960 in Swansboro, and a 3rd degree mason member of Accomac Chincoteaue, VA Masonic Lodge 243.
He is survived by four children Marilyn Guthrie and husband Andrew of Broad Creek, John Alec Willis, Jr., of Mill Creek, Irma McCabe of Mill Creek, and Lisa Lasche of California; seven grandchildren Drew Guthrie and wife Crystal, Elaina "Brandi" Wingfield and husband Chris, Megan MacLoyd and husband Brad, Alexandria Willis, Jacob Willis, April Guthrie and husband Thomas, and Tommy Guthrie; six great grandchildren; a sister Harriett Salter; and significant other Patricia "Sissy" Piner
He was preceded in death by his parents Garland and Marietta Willis, and a son Alec John Willis.
Visitation is 4:00-6:00 Sunday at Munden Funeral Home.
