John Alexander Wood

John A. Wood “Woody”, 73, of Beaufort, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Carolina East Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 26^th, at Lighthouse Community Church in Stacy. 

John was born on August 2, 1950, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to the late Joseph and Mary Wood. He served in the United States Marine Corps, honing his skills as an airplane mechanic. On October 25, 1976, John married his sweetheart Arlene in Emerald Isle. Their love was a testament to the deep bond they shared. In John’s spare time, he was a handyman and a true “jack of all trades”.

He had a generous spirit and a heart for helping others. Whether he was helping at the local churches in his area or food drives for his home church, Lighthouse Community, in Stacy. 

John will be deeply missed by his friends and family but will be remembered for his contributions to his community.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughters, Susan Bullock from Down East, and Diane Styron of Morehead City; sons, John Kelly Wood of Beaufort, and Robert Bullock (Janet) of Belvidere, NJ; sister, Mary Mocklin of Utah; brothers, Bobby Wood of Mississippi, and Joe of Washington State; and grandchildren, Steven Wimpy from Down East, Crystal Wimpy of Morehead City, and Robert J. Bullock of Belvidere, NJ.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Wood; and sister Martha.
