John Robert Tucker, Sr.

Mr. John Robert Tucker, Sr., 80, of Beaufort, died Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Carteret General Hospital.
Funeral will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Beaufort officiated by Rev. Richard Patterson. Interment will follow at Bayview Cemetery.
Born August 25, 1931, John was the son of the late Charles Lyman and Lina Mae Willis Tucker. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean War. He was a member and served as a deacon of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Beaufort, and had worked as a theater manager at numerous theaters throughout North and South Carolina. He enjoyed music and played the harmonica.
John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bessie Edgerton Tucker; a son, John Tucker, Jr., and wife Angie; a daughter, Janice Tucker Jones and husband, Jerry, of Orangeburg, SC; three step-brothers, Frank Williams, Lloyd Williams, and Luther Williams; nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Tucker Pierce, and his brother, Charles Tucker.
Memorials may be directed to either the RAAB Outpatient Clinic, 302 Medical Park Court, Morehead City, NC 28557, or to the First Free Will Baptist Church, P.O. Box 568, Hwy 70 E, Beaufort, NC 28516.
