John Sotirkys, 67, of Trenton, NC, was welcomed by his Heavenly Father overnight on February 26, 2022. He transitioned to heaven peacefully in his sleep at home with his beloved wife of 47 years, Deborah. This was sudden and unexpected by all of us.
A Celebration of Life for John will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 5th at The Harrison Center, 311 Middle Street in New Bern.
John was the backbone of our family, and we all miss him dearly. He loved Jesus first and foremost and always kept that with him and showered that love over his family and friends. He loved his family fiercely and never missed an opportunity to be with us. We know that he is doing what he loved, dancing and praising in the Glory of God right now. Just as he loved dancing and praising while here with us.
He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Deborah Sotirkys of the home; daughter, Jenna Sotirkys of Boca Raton, FL; sons, John Sotirkys, II and wife Rebecca of New Bern and Jason Sotirkys and wife Hannah of Seffner, FL; sister, Marcia Burbank and husband Dave of Carver, MA; brother, Charlie Sotirkys and wife Mary of Plymouth, MA; and grandchildren, David, Caleb, Elizabeth, Emma, Shaunah, Ari, Nathan, Ivy, Anavia and Jaxon.
John was preceded in death by his parents George and Catherine Sotirkys; and sister, Anne Byrnes.
Donations can be made in John’s memory to either the Breath of God (BOGIO) Church, 3724 JC Galloway Road, Greenville, NC 27858 or the Craven County Veterans Council (CCVC), make checks payable to Craven County Veteran's Council and mail to Craven County Veteran's Council, c/o VFW Post 2514, P.O.
