John "Rusty" Read, 53, of Morehead City, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at his home. He was born on 3/15/62 to Francis and Claudia Read in Bethesda, MD. Rusty grew up in Wheaton, MD with Frank and Mary Ellen Read and his five siblings. He graduated from Kennedy High School in 1981, where he was an avid football player which soon became one of his favorite pasttimes.

Rusty joined the Marine Corps, and was married to Robin Stepper from 1982 to 1986 during which time he became Dad to Terra Read. He received an Honorable Discharge and spent his military career as an aircraft mechanic. After his time in the Marines, he continued to use his mechanical knowledge throughout his civilian career.

Rusty was a loving father, son, brother and friend to all. He adored his daughter Terra and his faithful K9 companion Scooby. He enjoyed fishing, Panthers Football, cooking and gardening. He was a caring and giving individual who will always be remembered by most as the person who was always there and was always ready to help others before himself.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm on Tuesday September 1, 2015 at Munden Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Supple officiating. Visitation will take place an hour before the service.

He is survived by his daughter Terra Boyd and her husband Trey of Newport; Mom Mary Ellen Read of Frederick, MD,; brothers John Flynn and Ricky Read, sisters Dawn White, Lorie Morin, Teddy Auth and Tammy Tepper, nephew Justin Read, and his nieces Danielle and Angela Auth.

He was preceded in death by his Father Francis Read and biological mother Claudia Williamson, and his niece Noel White.
