John McSweeney of Homosassa, FL, died Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Citrus Memorial Hospital. Mr. McSweeney was born on December 4, 1933 in Manchester, NH to the late Richard Joseph McSweeney and the late Mary Lynch McSweeney. As a young man, he enjoyed drag racing and rebuilding hotrods. During the Korean War, John served as an aviation electrician in the US Navy. While stationed in Kingsville, Texas, AE McSweeney earned extra income by taxiing sailors to Mexico in his prized green Merc convertible. After serving fours years in the Navy, John graduated from Wentworth Institute in Boston, MA and attended Northeastern University, also in Boston, MA.

After college, John accepted a position with Sylvania working on a special project in Greenland. Upon returning to the US, John married Elisabeth Frenzer. John and Elisabeth had three children, Rich, Eileen and Teresa. John left Sylvania to join Control Data. As his career advanced, the family lived in many different states across the US enjoying time in Waltham, MA, Minneapolis, MN, Landover, MD, Rockledge and Orlando, FL, Houston, TX and Marlboro, NJ. In 1989, John retired from his career with Control Data. After retirement John and Elisabeth moved to Pine Knoll Shores, NC , but sadly, Elisabeth passed away in 1998.

John married Linda Cheek in 2002. They enjoyed many years of RVing all over the United States. In 2006, they decided to move to Homosassa Florida. The RV was their home while the house was being built. Even after moving into their new home, going to rallies gave them great joy. Their adventures lead them to Bear River Nova Scotia where they purchased a lovely cottage where they spent eight happy summers away from the hot Florida sun.

A visitation for John will be held at Munden Funeral Home on Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.
