John Leo Cross, Sr.

John Cross, Sr., 69, of Newport, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018 at his home.

A funeral mass, with military honors, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 27, 2018, at St. Egbert Catholic Church, with Father Tom Davis presiding. Followed by a luncheon at the church.

John was a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran, and a Bronze Star recipient. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 0203 in Newport. He retired from civil service at Cherry Point.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Anne Cross, of the home; daughters, Alison Kerr and husband, Chris, of San Tan Valley, AZ, Katherine Goodwin and husband, John, of Newport News, VA and Kristen Wilson and fiancée,  Adam, of Newport; sons, John Cross, Jr. and wife, Leona, of Nashville, TN, Christopher Cross and wife, Amber, of San Leandro, CA, and Jeremy Cross and wife, Amanda, of Marysville, WA; brothers, James Cross and wife, Leslie, and Timothy Cross and wife, Roxann, all of California; sister, Marti Racette and husband, Richard, of California; grandchildren, Rayna Cross, Collin Cross, Kiara Kerr, Lia Kerr, Kaiya Wilson, Noah Cross, Olivia Goodwin, Dillinger Cross, Benjamin Cross, and Dylan Barbary.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Rita Cross.
