John Richard Compton, Jr.

John Compton, Jr., 55, of Durham, NC, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Duke Medical Center.

His memorial service will be held Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at Munden Funeral Home, Morehead City, officiated by Pastor Ray Connor.

John was born and raised in Eastern North Carolina. He was formally trained and highly accomplished in HVAC industry. John loved to fish, watch NASCAR, and build rockets with his family. He was a very outgoing and personable guy that was loved by all he met. John was a loving father and grandfather that will be missed.

He is survived by his wife, Dena Rhue Compton; daughters, Bethanie Compton of Newport, Susie Compton Newman and husband, Matthew of Newport, Brittany Compton of Newport; son, John Michael Compton and wife, Erica of Newport; parents, John Compton, Sr. and Minnie Raynor Compton; sisters, Teresa Compton Arthur and husband, Dave of Warrenton, VA, Anna Michelle Lester and husband, Darryl of Hope Mills, Regina Frances Parnell and husband, Steve of Swansboro, Allison Raynor Hardy and husband, Shon of Little Rock, AR; brothers, William Charles Compton of Maury, NC, Ronald Keves Compton of Newport; grandchildren, Nevaeh Warmack, Cobi Warmack, Emaline Caison and Haidyn Zayas.

Family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
