John Patrick Bathurst

John Patrick Bathurst, 88, of Davis, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Carteret Health Care.
John had a long career serving his country and fellowman. As a Marine, he served in the Korean War. He served both in the Metropolitan Police Force in Washington DC and the Air Force Reserves, ending his service with the Air Force Reserves in 1963 and the Metropolitan Police Force in 1973.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 on Sunday, April 23, 2017, at the Oscar Davis Cemetery with the Rev. Keith Wall officiating.
John is survived by his son, Patrick Bathurst of Currie; daughter, Maureen Murphy and husband Dale of Davis; daughter, Kathleen Bathurst of Wilmington; sister, Barbara Mirda of Shelbyville, KY; granddaughters, Tracy Melton of Davis, Katie Lilly and husband Daniel of Davis; grandson, Joe Murphy and wife Kim of Cape May, NJ; great grandsons, Christian Murphy and wife Angelina of Beaufort, Logan Murphy and wife Paige of Bolivia, Brandon Melton of Davis, Zane Pyron of Davis; great granddaughter, Kiara Lilly of Davis; great great grandsons; Johnathan Murphy, Ronan Murphy, Oliver Murphy; and many nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by his wife, Colleen Youngson Bathurst and his parents, William Bathurst and Elizabeth Oliver Bathurst; brother, Angus Robert Bathurst.
