John Moncure "Monty" Ashby III, of Emerald Isle, N.C. passed away Friday, January 6, 2023.

Monty was born March 10, 1947, in Richmond, Virginia to Beatrice Blanche Ashworth Ashby and John Moncure Ashby Jr. He lived in Aiken, South Carolina; Waverly, Tennessee; and Athens, Alabama before his family moved to Wilmington in 1969. He worked 37 years for Pfizer/ADM in Southport, North Carolina, retiring in 2012 to Emerald Isle, North Carolina.

Monty will be buried next to his grandfather, John Moncure Ashby Sr., in the cemetery at Aquia Episcopal Church, Stafford, Virginia.
