Joe Honeycutt, Jr., 71, of Beaufort, passed away Wednesday, August 1­, 2018, at his home.

A Celebration of Life will be held on his birthday, August 23, 2018, from 4 p.m. till 7 pm. at the Glad Tidings Family Life Center.

Joe was born in Princeton, NC, in Johnston County. After graduating from college, he became a College Instructor of Diesel and Auto Mechanics. He was a retired Marine Machinery Mechanic Supervisor with AMSA 128W (Area Maintenance Support Activity #128 for Watercraft) 81st Regional Support Command located at the US Army Reserve on Fisher Street in Morehead City. Joe was a retired US Army Reserve Chief Warrant Officer IV, Chief Engineer aboard the US Army Landing Craft Utility based out of Morehead City.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Edwards Honeycutt of Beaufort; daughter, Beth Honeycutt Lilly Nitt of Morehead City; granddaughter, Josie Desiray Nitt of Morehead City; grand god-daughters, Michaela Piner of Morehead City, Ginna Pope of Cedar Point, Leigha Pope of Arlington, VA; step grandsons, Jake Lilly, Zach Nitt, Alex Nitt all of Morehead City; and siblings, J.M. Honeycutt of Princeton, Nancy Ingram of Grantham, Shirley & Jerry Clarke of Grantham, Brenda Scott of Goldsboro and Dorothy Tew of Goldsboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Honeycutt, Sr. and Mary Sophia Howell and sisters, Alice Barbour and Ann Mozingo Caviness.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in memory of Joe Honeycutt, Jr. to PAWS of Carteret County at 5042 Mattie St, Morehead City, NC 28557 or to Carteret County Hospice at 3500 Arendell St., Morehead City, NC 28557.
