Joe Gavetti, 91, of Atlantic, died Monday, July 9, 2012 at Taylor Extended Care.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday at Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry McInnis officiating. Interment will follow at Atlantic Community Cemetery.
Joe served in the US Navy and the US Coast Guard, retired from civil service at Cherry Point. He was a carpenter all of his life, and helped build Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter and husband, Patricia and Joey Gilgo of Atlantic; son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Melissa Gavetti of Atlantic; two sisters, Helen Fine and Ruth Baruti both of Philadelphia, PA; brother, Arthur Gavetti of Philadelphia, PA; four grandchildren, Ryan Gilgo, Gregory Gilgo, Anthony C. Gavetti, and Brandon Gavetti; six great-grandchildren, Erin Gilgo, Tayler Gavetti, Joey Gavetti, Mikie Gavetti, Anthony C. Gavetti, II, and Joseph B. Gavetti, Jr..
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Gavetti, first wife, Lettie Gavetti, second wife, Clarabell Nelson, third wife, Maggie Gavetti, two grandsons, Douglas Gilgo and Joseph Gilgo, Jr. and eight siblings.
The family will receive friends 7:00 - 9:00 pm Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 332 N. Lauderdale St., Memphis, TN 38105 or Crystal Coast Dialysis Unit, 3332 Bridges St, Suite 7, Morehead City, NC 28557.
