Jimmy "Frank" Franklin Thomas

Jimmy  Franklin “Frank” Thomas, 65, of Newport, was called home to the Lord on Sunday, August 5­, 2018, at his home.

His funeral service will be held at  2 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Bill Stroud and Brother Bob Lowrey. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.

He lived life the way he wanted. He was an avid hunter and was a simple man, with a giving and loving heart. He was a mason by trade and left his mark on many buildings and hearts in Eastern, North Carolina. His entire life was spent near his family whom he loved unconditionally. He was the “grill master” at annual family reunions, roasting the pig, ribs and chickens.

He is survived by his companion, Melissa Anne Bondie, of Newport; mother, Rachel Bowman Thomas, of Newport; daughters, Toni Thomas Daniels and husband, Chip, of Havelock, Melissa “Missy” Thomas Martin and husband, Doug, of Bastrop, LA; sisters, Linda T. Sapp and husband, John, of Newport, Darlene T. Caldwell and husband, Eddie, of Newport, Karnell T. Barley and husband, Kelly, of Newport; grandchildren, Megan Yates, Autumn Daniels, Alexicia Martin; and great-grandchildren, Bricen Goodwin, Adelyn and Ayden Lewis; many nieces and nephews and extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hassel F. Thomas.

Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home.
