Jimmy Leon McCaffity, 63, of Newport, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022, at Carolina East Medical Center.
His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 13th, at Munden Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday, May 12th, at Munden Funeral Home. As the family celebrates Jimmy’s life and the joy he brought them, they specifically request that no one wears black to the funeral or visitation.
Jimmy was born on December 29, 1958, in New Bern, North Carolina, to Henry and Evelyn McCaffity. He grew up in Havelock where he graduated from Havelock High School with the Class of 1977. Jimmy spent most of his life as an auto body painter and in 2012, his talent and skill in this field led him to a management position. Jimmy had a great eye for detail and a talent for taking pictures which he thoroughly enjoyed. More than anything, Jimmy loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa McCaffity of the home; daughter, Toni; sons, Jeffrey and Jeremy; mother, Evelyn McCaffity of Havelock; brothers, Bobby McCaffity (Xiaolin) of Dallas, TX and Lewis McCaffity (Candy) Blairsville, GA; grandchildren, Shayne, Peyton, Liam, Ellie, Isla, and Tyler; and his dog, Lula.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Henry McCaffity and his son, Thomas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 505 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
