Jim Youraine

Jim Youraine, 80, of Newport, died Friday, April 16, 2010, at Carolina East Medical Center.

Mr. Youraine was born January 17, 1930 to Russian immigrants John and Dora Youraine in Los Angeles, CA.

From High School Jim joined the United States Navy and served his country well and with pride for thirty years. After retiring from the Navy he worked with Civil Service and ultimately pursued a career in law enforcement. Jim was a Special Deputy with the Carteret County Sheriffs department and was the first officer to retire from the Cape Carteret Police Department. Jim also owned and operated Jim's Gun Sales & Service. He was an avid gardener, a member of the VFW, Moose Lodge, volunteered with the Newport Fire Department and was a lifetime member of the NRA.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday at Bayview Cemetery.

Jim is lovingly survived by his wife of fifty-eight years Genevieve; devoted daughters, Donna Youraine of Morehead City and Jeanette Youraine of Tampa, FL; grandson, Del Creech of Beaufort, great-grandchildren, Jesse, Creedance, Taylor and Logan;and many nieces,nephews and special feline companions Scooter & Blue.

The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Monday at Munden Funeral Home.
