Jewell "Joe" David Dees, Sr.

Jewell "Joe" David Dees, Sr., 97, of Havelock, passed peacefully Thursday, March 12, 2015 at his home.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Monday at First Baptist Church of Havelock with Dr. Don Hadley officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Joe was a member of First Baptist Church of Havelock, including being a deacon and helping with the building and grounds committee. He was in the Civillian Conservation Corps until joining the US Marines at the beginning of WWII and saw action in the Pacific Theater, the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He had a total of 26 years in the USMC and 14 years with civil service at Cherry Point.

He is survived by four sons Jewell David Dees, Jr of Brookston, IND, James Worth Dees of New Bern, Thomas Mitchell Dees of Morehead City, and Troy Cecil Dees of Atlantic Beach; sister, Lucille Brown Stultz of Las Vegas, NV nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, making for a family of five generations.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years Eunice Williams Dees, parents, three brothers Ted, Junior, and Worth Dees, and two sisters Ethel Franklin, and Edna Moccia.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
