Jerry "Howdy" Thomas Holcombe

November 10, 1945 — March 3, 2014

Jerry “Howdy” Holcombe, 68, passed away March 3, 2014 after a recent cancer diagnosis.  Howdy was born November 10, 1945 in Danville, VA to Gerald and Betty Holcombe, who preceded him in death.

Howdy was raised in Greensboro and graduated from Grimsley High School as part of the infamous class of ’64.  He continued to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated in 1969 with a degree in Business Administration and Accounting.

After living in Raleigh and Rocky Mount, Howdy moved to Morehead City in 1994.  It was here that his heart truly found its home. Enough cannot be said of those here who became the center of his life and who filled it with the friendship, laughter and love we all seek.

Howdy is survived by his sister Dianne Holcombe Peeples of Greensboro, his daughter Chase Holcombe Bryan of Raleigh and his son Banks Holcombe of London, England. Granddaughters Sutton and Elliott Bryan and niece, Viridianne Rickards, also survive him.

The family would like to thank Dr. Luis Cuevro for his attention and care over the last month. A debt of gratitude is owed to Joe Neal and Wyndy Hoover for their overwhelming generosity, kindness and support of Howdy during this difficult time.

Family and friends will gather at McCurdy’s Restaurant, 505 Atlantic Beach Causeway, Tuesday, March 11 at 5:00 pm to remember a father, a brother and a friend.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to PAWS of Carteret, 5042 Mattie Street, Morehead City, NC  28557.
