Jerry Lee Melton

Jerry Lee Melton, 75, of Morehead City, passed away Wednesday, August 15­, 2018, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

Jerry served with the Raleigh Fire Department for 32 years.  He later moved to Carteret County in 1995 and worked at the Sportsman Pier.  He loved fishing and being on the ocean.  Jerry was a consistent visitor to the Senior Center and a diehard Blue Devil Fan.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Melton of 23 years, of the home; daughter, Allyson Melton of Garner; step-daughters, Jane Sobotor and husband, Billy, of Pollocksville, Cecile Shenkan of Lafayette, LA; stepson, Walter Byrd and wife, Joy, of Maysville; nieces, Kim Westbrook and husband, Emmett, of Morehead City, Sheryl Thomas and husband, Tim, of Sandford, NC, Linda Brown and husband, Rick, of Morehead City; 4 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; and many loving family members and his loving cat, Kid.

He was preceded in death by brother, Freddy Melton.

Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
