Jeffrey L. Smith

Jeffrey L. Smith, 76, of Atlantic, passed away Wednesday, July 4­, 2018, at Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay.

His memorial service, with military honors, will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Terry McInnis.

Jeffrey was born and raised in Atlantic, North Carolina. He honorably served in the United States Army. He worked 10 years at the Open Grounds Farm before beginning his career with Civil Service where he retired after 20 years as a crane operator at BT-11.  Jeffrey loved the outdoors and spent a lot of quality time at the family camp, the High Hills, hunting and fishing. He was a devoted family man and friend.

He is survived by his son, J.J. Smith and wife, Anna, of Beaufort; sister, Linda Tosto of Madison; brothers, John Smith Jr., and wife, Nellie Ann, of Raleigh, Richard Smith and wife, Michelle, of Atlantic; step-grandchildren, Donovan Johnson, Samantha Johnson, Tyler Johnson; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marjorie Smith and brother-in-law, Paul Tosto.

Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church.
