Rick (Helen) Meier of Rockford, IL. Jeff was also a father-like mentor to Jake Pool and Kris Burmeister. Other survivors include his nieces, Jennifer (Andrew) Geistfeld of Columbus, OH, and Rebecca (Sunil) Meier-Rao of Madison, WI; and nephews Richard (Ina) Meier of Chicago, IL, and Carlos (Sesen) Meier of San Diego, CA. He also leaves Mother-in-law, Joan Roy, brother-in-law, Mark Roy, aunt and cousins in Connecticut. A lover of animals, his dog who he rescued as a puppy, Missy, survives him.
Jeff was founder and president of Island Automation of Swansboro, a business he formed in 1986. An electrical engineer by profession, his very successful business provided services to many North Carolina (and other) manufacturing facilities.
Jeff always loved music, and in his early career he owned and operated his own recording studio in his hometown of DeKalb, IL where he still has many friends and family, including a host of cousins. After that he traveled with well-known bands to their music venues, preparing their equipment for large-audience shows.
Along with Wendy, Jeff found a renewed relationship with God at Chapel by the Sea Church in Emerald Isle. He became the Director of Christian Education for several years, and they both participated regularly in Bible study fellowship groups. He regarded his church family to be part of his extended family.
Jeff was a man who made friends with everyone he met. His warm and engaging personality touched others in such a way that he will be sorely missed by many.
A visitation will be held at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City on Friday evening, June 3, from 6-8 pm. There will also be a visitation one hour prior to the service on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 10:00 am, at Chapel by the Sea Church.
