Jeffrey Dean Swain

June 25, 1952 — April 27, 2025

Morehead City

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeffrey “Dean” Swain, 72, of Smyrna, who left this world on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Crystal Coast Hospice House.

A graveside service to honor Dean’s life, officiated by Pastor Terry McInnis, will be held at 12 p.m., Friday, May 2 at Gethsemane Memorial Park, where friends and family are invited to celebrate his life and share their fond memories. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the graveside at Munden Funeral Home.

Dean was born on June 25, 1952, in Carteret County, to the late Alton and Sylvia Swain. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He cherished the time spent with his wife, Debra Swain; and his children Eugene Fulford and his wife Edwina, Michael Fulford and his wife Kimberly, and Toby Fulford.

Dean took great pride in his work on tugboats, spending most of his life on the water, where he found joy in fishing and the tranquil beauty of the sea. His love for the water was only matched by his love for his family, and he cherished the moments spent with his grandchildren, Tyffanie Hunter and her husband Seth, Chance Fulford and his wife Ashley, and Dylan Fulford and Brittny Wallace.

In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his son, David Dement. Dean’s memory will be forever held in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome.

Family and friends are welcome to submit online condolences at www.mundenfuneralhome.net.
