Jeanette Willis Morris

Jeanette Willis Morris, 82, of Smyrna, passed away Tuesday, May 14­, 2019, at Carteret Health Care.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Ray Gaskins. Interment will follow at the Willis Family Cemetery in Smyrna.

Jeanette was born at home and raised in Smyrna in the Down East Community. Her husband and love of her life’s career took her all over the country and the world. She was a lifetime member of Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church, a charter member of the Goldwing Riders Association and the Twin Rivers Paddle Club. She loved to go mullet fishing and clamming. Jeanette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Alfred Morris of the home; daughter, Yvonne Morris and husband Troy Morris, III of Morehead City; sons, Larry Neal Morris, Sr. and wife Carolyn of Smyrna and Herbert Eugene Morris and wife Pam of Davis; nieces and nephews, Sherrie Murphy, Pam Bazemore, Dennis Willis, Jeremy Willis, Wayne Willis; brother-in-law, Bobby Willis; grandchildren, Larry Neal Morris, Jr., Ashley Morris Lewis, Samantha Jean Matthews, Stanley Cody Morris, Priscilla Renee Morris, Lauren Paige Morris, Candace Rose Morris; and great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Guthrie, Jacob Lewis, Carly Morris, Carson Guthrie, Ryan Morris and Walker Lewis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Guy Willis, Sr. and Doris Pigott Willis; sister, Clarice Willis; brother, Willie Guy Willis, Jr.; grandson, Troy Morris, IV; great-grandson, William Korbin Guthrie.

Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church.
