Jean Casey Dickson Hoffmeyer died Thursday, July 1, 2010 at home in Morehead City, North Carolina.

Jean was born on February 21, 1926 in Mount Olive, North Carolina to Christine and Clay Casey. She graduated from Mount Olive High School and received her BS degree from Greensboro College. She then attended and graduated from Watts Hospital School of Nursing in Durham. After a distinguished career as an RN, Jean taught nursing at Wayne Community College for many years. Her retirement was spent at her beloved beach cottage at Atlantic Beach, with her sons and their families. Her later years were spent in Harbor View Towers in Morehead City.

Jean was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morehead City. She enjoyed many happy hours playing bridge with her friends.

She is survived by her two sons, James T. Dickson II of Belhaven and Robert A. Dickson of Savannah, Georgia; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and her sisters Aileen Casey Griffin of Morehead City and Doris Casey Leonard of Mocksville.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Clay English Casey.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 5 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Morehead City.
