Jean Gillikin Eubanks, 79, of Williston, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016 at UNC REX Healthcare.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Williston United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Harris officiating.  Interment to follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Jean was a member of Williston United Methodist Church and a member of the Beaufort Chapter No.128 of the Order of The Eastern Star.  She was a 1955 graduate of Smyrna High School where she enjoyed cheerleading for the high school basketball team.  After graduating, she went to business school and earned her associates degree and worked for First Citizens Bank in Morehead City.  Later, she and her husband Henry owned Carteret Tire Co. together for 45 years where she was the only bookkeeper.  She always had a smile on her face and was a very “special” friend to many and always put others above herself.  She enjoyed the peaceful serenity of the water and the feel of the warm sunshine on her face.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will truly be missed.

Jean is survived by her husband of 56 years, Henry Eubanks; daughter, Sheila Eubanks of Wake Forest; granddaughter, Makayla Salter of Wake Forest; brothers, Sterling Gillikin Jr. of Cape Carteret and George Gillikin of Fountain; and sister, Juanita Hayes of Kinston.

She was preceded in death by her father, Sterling Gillikin Sr.; mother, Yulee Whaley; special “parents” Uncle Seymour and Aunt Fannie Davis; brothers, William Gillikin, Alan Guy “Bud/Red” Davis, Lester Davis; and sister, Viva Piner.

The family will welcome friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City and one hour prior to the service at Williston United Methodist Church.
