Jayne Barcley (Kelley) Streisguth

July 9, 1928 — March 8, 2014

Jayne Streisguth, 85, passed from this world on Saturday, March 8th, 2014.

A memorial service will be held in Morehead City, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church at 2:00pm on Sunday March 16th, 2014. Interment will follow at a later date in Bloomfield, NJ.

Jayne was born in Philadelphia, PA, was a long time resident of Roseland, NJ, and has lived in Morehead City, NC since 2003. Her parents, Myra and Henry Kelley, both of Philadelphia, preceded her death. Jayne was raised in Philadelphia where she graduated from High School and Secretarial School. In 1948, she enlisted in the US Marine Corp reserves in Philadelphia. Her reserve unit was activated for the Korean Conflict, and served onboard Camp Lejeune, NC, rising to the rank of corporal.
Returning to civilian life, she moved to The Borough of Roseland, NJ, where she spent a full career in the administration of borough government.
Jayne moved to Morehead City in 2003, living first in Cedar Woods in Brandywine, then The Carolina House. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and a volunteer in the thrift shop. Her battle with Parkinson’s disease effected much of her final years. However, Jayne was a devout Christian, a proud former Marine, a devoted wife, and a wonderful mother.

She is survived by her two sons, Robert Glander and wife Karin of Morehead City, Clare “Dooley” Glander and wife Sheila of Booton, NJ, and five grandchildren Mark, Erika, George, Christopher and Maggie Glander.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that a donation be made to the organization of one’s choice that supports in any way the men and women that serve in our armed forces. Semper Fi.
